October 2017

Meeting Night & Competition- entries - Annual Landscape (7:30 PM AUS Eastern Daylight Time)
Tutorial - Photographing Speed (7:30 PM AUS Eastern Daylight Time)
There will be a panel of three experienced club members who will each talk about a different aspect to photographing speed followed by a Q & A session delete
Outing - Maffra Hill Climb (10:00 AM AUS Eastern Daylight Time)
Meet at Warragul Train station carpark (new one) at 8.45. The event is run by the Maffra and District Car Club in Boisdale. The competition runs will commence at 10 00 am We suggest taking your longer lenses and a monopod if you have one.  For those who have not attended a dirt track hillclimb, this presents a very different photo opportunity. Entry is free and you can get quite close to the track without putting yourself in peril. Photographic opportunities abound. They provide a reasonable range of food in the canteen: hamburgers, sausages, hotdogs,  dim sims, hot and cold drinks. They aim to keep the prices quite low. Picnic seats available. National Rhododendron Gardens Olinda (10:00 AM AUS Eastern Daylight Time)
The rhododendron gardens cover 36 hectares and are in The Georgian Road, Olinda. We will meet at the front entrance at 10.00am (when it opens) A range of photo opportunities from distant vistas to macros. A tripod would be useful for macros. A kiosk and toilets are on site. The National Rhododendron Gardens are host to brilliantly coloured blooms of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, cherries and daffodils. Seasonal changes ensure the gardens are a delight all year around. Parking: During the busy spring period, parking on weekends is limited and parking on The Georgian Road is unsuitable and may, in some instances, be illegal and result in a fine. There is additional parking available at both the Olinda Recreation Reserve on the corner of The Georgian Road and Olinda-Monbulk Road, and the former Olinda Golf Course site on the Olinda-Monbulk Road. Both these sites are within a two minute walk of the main entrance and are more suitable than the narrow/gravel The Georgian Road. Hopefully, by meeting at the opening time parking will be OK delete
